Reduction Printing

Today I started another grand adventure...and I LOVED it! My first attempt at reduction printing. These are my best two out of six.

What I learned is that this is great fun! I think my colors are not differentiated enough AND I like it. Woohooo!!

I used tempera paint on watercolor paper. I made my own 'glass' sheet with a page protector with tape around the edges. I tried using the brayer to put the paint on the carving. The paint got into the ridges so then I laid the carving onto the paint on the plastic sheet.

I loved the feel of carving the material away. I had to think about what to get rid of and what to keep.

My inspiration for this adventure came from the Sept/Oct issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors.
